Anyone know how I can go about doing this at my wedding? Where can I get the butterflies? Any special permits required?

I wouldn't do it, I have heard horror stories of how they all die even before you release them. You should do a search on here there has been a few posts about it.

I love butterflies and would like to do this too but I heard that some butterflies die in the little case...just something to think about b/c I don't want a guest stuck with a dead butterfly

My friend told me that she's been to 4 wedding where they released butterflys and most of them were dead when they opened them....I think it's a risk...

My sis grew them at home this past summer. Some died but the majority lived and she released them. Very pretty thing to do at a wedding.

my cousin did it with no problems this past summer... she had them in a bird cage looking thing made out of net so they were still able to fly around and breathe before the release..
all were alive and flying.. my brothers girlfriend caught one with her finger and she got some nice pics..
not sure where she got them though
