Butterfly Release

Butterfly Release

Does anyone know a butterfly release vendor? I was going to do a dove release but my friends husbands family do a lot of work with weddings and they say that a lot of times the doves s*it on the the bride, groom or bridal party because they are soo cooped up in the basket for such a long time that when you release them that's the first thing they do. So I am kind of nervous about the dove release. I think butterflies will be a really nice touch and will come out really good in pictures.

a lot of times the butterflies are half dead when it's time for the release. i love this idea too but am worried about the humane aspect of it (not to mention the disappointment of a box of dead butterflies), so i'll probably call sweetbriar farms in smithtown to see if there's a nicer way to do it. they run an animal rescue shelter and a butterfly house.

I have nothing really helpful to add, but in a roundabout way maybe it'll bring new perspective to the situation haha...

I'm deathly afraid of moths and butterflies. If one comes near me, I start screaming, hyperventilating, heaving, and run like heck. It's pretty much debilitating, and a little scary, because god forbid one were ever to get in my car I'd probably end up in a tree. Now, if I was at a wedding and there was a butterfly release unbeknownst to me, and I'm standing around minding my business and all of a sudden there's a swarm around me, I'd probably go into cardiac arrest, not even joking in the least.

I know it's not a common fear, believe me, but I would make sure some guests don't have any serious fears or conditions before releasing any type of living creature.

I plan on doing this in memory of my Grandmother. I really have not done much with it yet.... just a quick google search.
