Does anyone know a butterfly release vendor? I was going to do a dove release but my friends husbands family do a lot of work with weddings and they say that a lot of times the doves s*it on the the bride, groom or bridal party because they are soo cooped up in the basket for such a long time that when you release them that's the first thing they do. So I am kind of nervous about the dove release. I think butterflies will be a really nice touch and will come out really good in pictures.

Re: Butterfly Release
Okay...I just have to tell you that I was at a wedding where they did dove release and they DO sit on anyone nearby and do not fly away right away...kind of awkard.
I ALSO went to a wedding last year where they did the butterfly release. Many of the butterflies just sat in the boxes and people were shaking them to get them out and the other ones died in the boxes.
Sorry if this changes your plans but I thought I should tell you so you can decide.

Re: Butterfly Release
I wanted to do the dove release in memory of my Dad really bad....but because I am a Fall/Nov bride & church gets out around 4:15 ish...it's too dark for the doves & they wont make it home intime...isnt that cute.
If I was getting married in suffolk it may have been possible since that is where they live.
Oh Well!!

Re: Butterfly Release
My friend's brother did the butterfly release, and my friend was saying how they gave the bridal party envelopes to open which had the butterflys in it. She said everyone was shaking the envelopes to just get the butterflys out, and many of them were dead. Of the ones that did get out, everyone looked up at them and just had a confused look on their faces when doing that, so in the picture, you just see all these people looking up with a weird face, and the photographers barely got any of the butterflys in the picture - so it looks like they're looking at nothing.

Re: Butterfly Release
I have heard about them all being dead also. While I think it would be really pretty, I think I would want to avoid another thing to stress out about.

Re: Butterfly Release
I too was at wedding where they released butterflies, and as others have mentioned it did not go well. Everyone was shaking the envelopes and many butterflies were dead, and many just fell to the floor, the ones that just happened to land on flowers looked pretty but most of them were just laying on the sidewalk and everyone was trying not to step on them. I hope this helps, and I'm sorry I do not have better news.
