Re: butterflys
I saw something about this before....I think they somehow put them to sleep and you have to wake them up right before you release them.
I obviously wasnt paying very much attention.

Re: butterflys
I think I saw this on one of those weddings shows. Putting them in a container surrounded by dry ice puts them to sleep then a few hours before you have to take them off so they wake up. If not then they won't go anywhere...I think they didn't do it early enough on the show and they didn't fly off...so sad...

not sure... but i heard that some of them dont fly!!! it's very tempermental. you have to follow specific instructions to make sure that they do fly when you release them... and if the temperature is not appropriate, they will not fly.

I have seen the butterfly thing done twice-one bride froze them, the other didn't. Both times-MOSTof the butterflies were dead and both times the brides' faces were not happy ones-looking into the dead box of butterflies.

I agree, the two times I saw this most were dead and we even had the kids at the church crying. I would not recommend butterflies.

Re: butterflys
i am doing butterflys......you do not need to freeze them...my mother had them at her wedding in 05 and they all lived .....they come in individual little triangle boxes so you can give to each guest to pass out or put them in baskets...we put them in two baskets with this fabric they gave us over it kinda like tulle all you have to do its keep a towel or somethin over it otherwise to keep it dark so they will sleep and not go crazy ...everyone loved the idea and still talk about the butterflies also some of them landed on the flowers around the gazebo and our (bm) bouqets so they were excellent pictures

it probobly depends on where you get them from too. some places might be better than others. and maybe how far they are shipping them!

Re: butterflys
In theory, its a great idea and if all goes well, looks incredible. I've been to 2 weddings where they released butterflies, and it didn't turn out well for either bride. Many of them died and the ones that did make it, didn't feel like flying that day. At one of the weedings, the ring bearers tried to make it better by throwing a few dead ones in the air!!! Neither bride was very upset about it, just a little disappointed.
If you do decide to do it, make sure you talk to a lot of brides who had success with it to find out what they did and good luck!

Re: butterflys
I went to a shower where they were released. It wasn't a big deal when some of them didn't fly but then again there weren't any children around.
If you're going to release them from a basket, I think you'll be fine. No one will see which ones didn't fly...

Re: butterflys
alot end up dead...so usually the place you order from gives you more than you order...so you get the amount you paid for after the delivery deaths... the guy at work did it and he got them next day air...so they came the morning of the wedding...so if you are gonna do it...I would recommend doing that...so you dont have to freeze the poor little buggers!
