Is anyone's FH buying his tux? I have no idea what a tux goes for, but Fh mentioned that he'd like to keep it. Anyone know about how much this would cost? Anyone doing it?

Try Syms in westbury. You can get nice wool ones for about $150 with shirt and bowtie. FHs dad and my dad got them there.

Re: buying a tux?
Mine is buying his, he's said he's sick of wearing disgusting rented tuxes for all the weddings he's been in and for his own, he wants one that only he's worn. I can't blame him....the last wedding he was in a month or so ago, you could just tell the shirt had worn so many times already by other people and even though it's been cleaned, it was still kind of gross, and the inside of the rented shoes were nasty. My mom mentioned Syms as well.
ETA: We've priced it out at a couple of places and the price difference is not so bad, worth it to me if it makes him more comfortable the day of.

FH brother might buy tux for his sons (2 ring bearers) - since they charge the same rental fee as adults - its actually cheaper to buy a kids tux

Re: buying a tux?
Will wants to buy his. I'm not sure why... but when we looked into a few places, the price to buy was very close to the price of renting the one he wanted.
Also, after what I spent on my gown, that i'll only wear once, there's no way I'm going to tell him he can't buy his own tux.
We've been told that Men's Wharehouse is great. Karako has some good prices, but the 'deals' are on the lower end tuxes which looked fine to me but FH said they were ugly. Same with... oh man... the name of the place escapes me but it's on Old Country Road by Century 21

Some of the tux shops will sell them too. Or you can Saks, Bloomingdales I think they sell them.
Someone mentioned Karako -- please don't buy it from there -- their stuff falls apart.

yeah if you think about it they spend almost the same amount to rent it, but they have to give it back...at least if they buy it they'll get more use out of it

yup! that was my thinking. also, i heard a bride say to her FH at one of the tux shops that there was no way she was letting him spend so much money on his tux... it was like $300. She had just mentioned that she was wearing a Kenneth Poole that she just bought and was discussing the price of said gown...
I don't understand that POV... at least the tux MIGHT get worn again!

Really? I was the one that mentioned it, because several friends of mine purchased theirs through them and they have had them for a while now and raved about them.
I will keep this in mind though.

I guess it'll come in handy for us since there will be a few more weddings coming up where he'll be requested to wear one...as long as he stays the same size we'll be ok
