buying/alterations

Did anyone buy there gown from one place and then get their alterations done at another? Do all places let you do that? I am thinking of buying my dress from Burton's b/c they gave me the best price, but I dont know if I'm comfortable getting my alterations done there.
Anyone buy from Burton's and then get alterations elsewhere? if so, where and would you recommend?

i've heard of several brides on here who have bought their dress and had it altered by phyllis at bridal elegance.
