Help!! I am trying to think of a c-piece for my MIL's 60th b-day party. My SIL just wants to do balloons but I wanted to do a little something---the paty is the middle of Oct. Thanks!

I second the pumpkins!
Or anything fall-like / harvesty. Maybe a bushel of apples, or a pot of mums.

If you're on a budget you can just get assorted fall colored flowers, tie them with rustic ribbon and have them laying on the table like a bo-k.

What about a fall type plant like Mums or something in a nice holder.. I know older women at parties go CRAZY for stuff like that , that they can take home!!!

you can take branches of leaves changing color and bunch them together. you can then spray paint them lightly with gold spray paint, lightly so the reds and oranges still show through. then tie the bunches with sheer gold or red thick wire ribbon and maybe lay two bunches together, crossing each other, for each table and sprinkle some flower petals on the table or scatter some mini pumpkins around them or loose leaves or maybe even candles.

Re: C-piece for MIL's party
last year for t-giving i took a pumpkin from halloween, carved it out, and used it as a vase for some fall flowers. it looked awesome! i got the idea from some home and garden show. it's a nice combo of incorporating the pumpkin -- but also some flowers...

We did this for my sisters 40 but we also had pictures of her growing up, stuck in with the flowers.

I was at Michaels over the weekend and they had fake pumpkins - on sale all week! They would be perfect for the vase idea, i think. (Though you may need a jar inside...)
