C-Sections & Placentia Previa

Hi there-
I have placenta previa & will be having a C-section on Feb.12 @ North Shore. I just fornd out yesterday from my Dr. that now I have to go to the OR for delivery & my DH will not be able to be w/ me. I'm upset because last week he was aloud in & now he's not.
I was wondering if anyone else had to go through this & hopefully it wasn't as bad as I'm thinking it will be. I guess I just need someone to ease my mind a bit.

I just wanted to offer you some hugs of support. I am sure everything will be just fine. One of my best friends had placenta previa and she had a c-section this past October. It went wonderfully, and Mommy and baby are doing very, very well! I do know that her hubby was definitely allowed in the OR....so, maybe you can ask your OB why they are saying your DH is not.

Best wishes....your baby is almost here!!

I'm not sure why they would say your DH isn't allowed in the OR - mine was. I would double check on that. I don't know much about Placenta Previa, but I do know about my own c-section! I'm sure you will be just fine!! Your baby will be with you soon!! If you have any questions, please feel free to FM me...

The Dr. said it was hospital policy. What hospital did you have yours at?. Thanks for the support.

I had a c-section at NSUH@Plainview and my DH was in the OR with me the entire time.

I was at Winthrop, but I know of others who have had their DH with them - I would ask again...

Re: C-Sections & Placentia Previa

You should be strong about your request.
You ABSOLUTELY need and want your husband to be there.

At my c-section, they did NOT allow more than one person with me. I got VERY upset and BEGGED for my sister to be allowed in also. I lucked out because the anesthesiologist was also a twin and 'felt for me' and allowed my sister to come also.

As far as just your hubby, I cant see why he cant be there. Youre just asking for one person. You should call both the hospital and your Drs office and be really strong about this and tell them it really means alot to you.

UNfortunately things like this can be a 'politics' and 'luck out' scenario (bending the ruleS). Im giving birth at a diferent hosp this time around and was already told that its ABSOLUTELY HOSPITAL RULES that only one person be allowed into a c-section. I tried begging, but she told me 'again, depending on who's working that day, and if its a quiet day, and you ask the right people....'

YEs its annoying that life has to work this way, but unfortunately it does.

Good luck and let us know how it goes
