we stayed at the RIU Palance and it was nice and affordable.. if you can spend a little extra then I would probably check out the Excellence Hotel.

Re: Cabo help!

We stayed at Riu Palace last August and we're going back for our honeymoon. We absolutely loved it there! If you want any Cabo info at all, FM me and I can send you lots of information (restaurants, things to do/see).

Just one thing to keep in mind: There is a significant distinction between San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas. SJdC is quiet. The locals will tell you it's the boring, older area. That's not to say it isn't beautiful; It's just not where anything much is happening beyond relaxation. Cabo San Lucas and the Turistic Corridor is far more lively. That's where all of the bars/clubs/restaurants are. The marina is there and so is the decent shopping (both high end and typical island stuff). It's basically where everything is.

Re: Cabo help!

I JUST got back from my bach party at the Riu Santa Fe last night. It was AMAZING! The resorts on the beach, and I've heard that it has more of a party atmosphere than Riu Palace, which is perfect for the bach party. Plus, you can either take a taxi ($12 for up to 4 ppl) or public bus for $1 (safe) into Downtown, which is really close by for partying and shopping.

it depends on which room you get.
our room was about 3-4 mins away from the beach

they do have beach view rooms

oh and they block off a section of the beach for guest that way the locals who are trying to sell stuff wont bother you

Re: Cabo help!

Just to add: RIU Santa Fe is more of a party crowd whereas RIU Palace is more upscale. Here's the beauty: if you stay at Palace. You can use anything at Santa Fe (pools, bars, restaurants, night club). The reverse, however, cannot be done (Santa Fe guests are not allowed at the Palace). Basically, you can hang out at the Santa Fe's swim-up bars during the day and return to the beauty of the Palace for everything else. The rooms at the Palace are all junior suites. We went over to the Santa Fe during our last vacation and you really can't compare the 2 properties, IMO. The Palace is directly on the beach (mind you, you cannot swim in the water because of the insane surf). Palace is one, huge building, while SF is a series of buildings and involves a bit of walking.
