Caffe on the Green

There is an article in the Bayside Times about Caffe on The Green closing and changing owners. Anyone having e- partys, showers or weddings there i would look into this

Re: Caffe on the Green

oh wow i thought it would say that its going to close in the future but they closed as of jan 1st already and the city terminated the owners license. Now they have to vacate by jan 31 but doors are closed in the meantime

does say that some other restaurant group is taking over by wonder if they'll keep the name or even keep it the same, or if theywill change it completely

eta: its crazy how the city can just do that, it wont even say why.

Back in Oct when I was looking for a RH I called there to make an appt to see it. FH lives near there and the church I am getting married at is close to it so we thought it would be perfect. But when I called they said that they will be renovating and not showing till March. I was so upset because I really wanted to book something right away. I am so glad I didnt wait. I think they might have know something was going to happen then but they werent saying

Wow, I'm shocked. I live 5-10mins from there and have gone there a dozen times w/my FH. I can't believe they closed. I wonder what happened to have the city close them down. It must've been pretty bad - eek!

at first the article said they cant say anything when they questioned somebody. But then somebody else said that there was about $900,000 that they didnt claim or something like that, but the owner said that was total in tips and that is not supposed to as hes been told

Thank god I didn't book there. Originally I wanted a very small wedding and we were going to book there. Guess my gut feeling did me right.

A friend of mine used to do valet and busing there when he was in HS. He said the management was very SHADY. They would have him sit in the back pouring non-name brand vodka into grey goose bottles through a funnel.
He said the place was NOT what people thought it was, and def not worth the prices they charged.

Us too. I think what turned us off the most was the fact that the BM was a bit on the snooty side.

I worked there for about a week. No wonder they closed, they dont let many of their workers keep their tips and they have very unorthodox money behaviors. Its about time their dishonesty caught up with them! On another note--they did have great food and is very pretty so hopefully once it has new owners it will be a good place to have an event.

Are you talking about Helen? She was as sweet as pie until they took our money, after that she was a raging b!tch.

Unfortunately alot of places do that withthe liquor. Quite a few years back I work for a RH (has since gone out of business) and for champage they would fill champage bottles with cheap white wine and ginger ale. Liquor was always the cheap stuff put in more expensive bottles. They always took our tips and had to split them with everyone. Which stunk if you made $100.00 in tips and end up with $20.00. No wonder the place went out of business
