Cake-Cost per slice

Hello Ladies-
I have a cake question. I'm not sure what the median cost is per cake slice. My mom has a friend who works from her home and makes weddding cakes. She wants to charge $7.50 per slice!!! Am I completely out of it or is that alot. We are only having 75 people at the wedding. So, if you can tell me (if you don't mind) how much you paid or how much you've been quoted per slice for your cake, that would be helpful. One more thing...we're not looking for anything overly elaborate. White with some pearls, beads, etc. THANKS!

Well alot of ppl on here will tell you their RH includes the cake so they paid nothing

BUT YES fondant cake does cost that much...the average price is $6-8 per slice, and many cake designers will charge even $10-12 a slice and even higher but lets just stick with the average price

if you dont want to spend that much then get buttercream

Yes, fondant on your cake is pricey. If you want something simpler, try buttercream frosting. It will run you a couple bucks cheaper per slice most likely.

Also, depending on where you're having your wedding, if you're bringing your own cake and not using their baker, your reception hall can charge you a cake cutting fee which can run a couple bucks per slice that they have to cut.

the bakery that we are getting our cake from is charging us $450 for 150 people- so that works out to $3 a slice- its not fondant- i dont like the taste or cost - but his work is amazing and the cakes are so yummy- i can send you the info if you are interested.

Where did you order an ice cream cake from? My FH wants one.

We are almost sure that we are going to use the one that comes with our hall.. neither one of us are tooooooo concerned about the cake..... and we figured that's try and save money somewhere....


but while we are on the topic of cake... anyone doing a Groom's Cake?
