The reception hall will definitely have one. Just make sure to confirm!

I put the one that matches my flatware on my registry and my aunt and uncle bought it for me for our E-party

I think it is a huge waste of money... JMO...

All RHs definitely have their own. You don't have to bring your own...same with toasting flutes.

The reception hall will have one, but I put a set on my registry that also matches my fine china because I'd like to have what we used as a practical keepsake! Sort of the like the champagne glasses that we'll use during the reception!

Its definetly not necessary. Your RH will have one. I wasn't going to get a set but then saw one on The Knot for $30 and figured that was a good deal.

I registered for them, its always good to have. But if no one gets it for you then use your RH

Re: Cake Cutter?

we like the idea of keeping it and having it for every anniversary cake we ever get. Our friends bought it for us as a gift like a week after we got engaged. I don't think its a waste of money. If the RH has one and u wanna use it go for it, if you want to buy one do it-

Re: Cake Cutter?

I think your RH should have this. I bought a cheap one from Joann's on sale for $5; but I plan to register for the really expensive one to keep in my china closet. I plan to do the same thing with the toasting flutes. I didn't want to buy the really expensive one's for the reception because I don't want to lose them or damage them.

If you're not sentimental and want them as a keepsake, then just use your RHs.

I registered for a pair, and if we don't get it for the shower, I'm still going to buy them. They're Lenox Bellina, which is the pattern we picked for our china, and I know we won't get one stitch of the china, so I want at least these pieces, because of all the china, I know I'd use them every holiday, and to me they're practical luxuries.

I also registered for one. I'll probably buy it if no one else does. I love it! Most RHs do have them if you don't want to get one for yourself.

I used the one from the RH. I'm not a sentimental person. I didn't even buy our own set of flutes Save your money!

If you really want a set, get it. I probably wouldn't register for them, but I received a set as an e-gift. They're beautiful and I love them, but I wouldn't run out and buy it myself.

Nope. I'm not. Who really looks at it? I never even heard about getting specially engraved ones until this site. Plus I'll either forget to bring it home or once I bring it home it'll wind up lost lol.

I always thought the MOH was supposed to get the flutes and serving set...

I got them for my sister when I was MOH and I'm glad I did. They were personalized to match her theme and I went out of my way to get a leaf (she had a 'fall in love' themed wedding) engraved on the cake set. They sit very nicely in her curio cabinet for everyone to see!

Here is a cake and knife cutter from target for 12.99. IMO, you will need a cake and knife cutter eventually...for when you entertain. So, why not get it now?
I got this beautiful vera wang 'with love' set from one of my friends for our engagement...but if you are on into entertaining, then just ask your RH for a knife and cake server.
