Cake cutting sets, toasting flutes, etc.

Are these items necessary? Does the catering hall not allow you to use their knives or flutes?

I feel like a f'n ATM! I have hand painted flutes, but not sure I want to use them for the wedding. We got them as a gift from FH aunt when we bought the house. I really can't see the cake cutting sets... I think we have enough heirlooms at this point... I have:

A monogrammed cake table runner
A monogrammed sand ceremony set

I think those are plenty - they weren't cheap either, especially since I had to reorder the sand ceremony set b/c it was delivered with the wrong initials! Gotta love Ebay...

Beside, in addition to these we'll have the bridal pic albums and portraits... how much stuff do you need?

I registered for a cake cutter set. I figure we can use it for our anniversary every year or special b-days, etc. I am not getting toasting flutes. We will just use the champagne flutes from the RH.

I don't plan to use my own cake cutting set....unless I happen to get one as a gift but I didn't register for one. Even the hall said it wasnt necessary because they have apretty one and who will relly see it ????

I wish I would have seen this thread prior to buying these items!!!!!!!!!!

I just registered for both sets since I was desperate to add things to my registry! It's a matching set from Bed Bath & Beyond- Lenox Opal Innocence.

We didn't register for any of that but did receive them as gifts at my bridal shower. My sister got us a cake cutting set that is engraved that I love so we will use it and my aunt who will not be able to attend our wedding got us our toasting flutes so we can think of her on our day. But we weren't going to spend the money to buy any of it. I don't see it was being a big deal if you don't have them

We received champagne glasses as an engagement gift that we'll use and we were gonna purchase the matching cake cutting set, but we found a set that was very similar for $10 at the flea market. If you want these things to keep then go for it, otherwise just use the RH.

I only purchased toasting flutes for the wedding. I used the RH's cake server and knife at the wedding cause I knew I would never use thm again.

I received the cake cutting set as a gift, but otherwise I was just going to use the one from the hall. I used the hall's toasting flutes.
