My favorite bakery on the planet is La Bonne Boulangerie in East Norwich, NY. Don't know pricing but taste wise-out of this world!

Are you getting married at Westbury Manor? They include a cake from francesco's.
This... I feel the same way though. I hadn't heard good thing about Francesco's. I spoke to my banquet mgr about not using their cake, she said they'd sub something comparable. However, I liked Francesco's on Facebook and the cakes seem to be looking nicer and nicer lately. Maybe they got a new decorator.
I haven't heard great things about their in house bakery. I also tasted their cake and it was ok.
I have my cake tasting at Francesco's tonight. Have any Westbury Manor brides been successful in getting WM to substitute a cake from another bakery? Or maybe give a credit towards a food add-on instead? Reading mixed reviews about Francesco's is making me nervous. I'm going there with an open mind, but just wanted to know if I have any options. Thanks!
How was you cake tasting?

It was OK. The cake was not amazing and the samples did not taste fresh, but the gentleman I met with (Sandy) was nice and seemed honest. He told me they can do my cake design and it will look like the picture I gave them (I'm paying an extra $50 because it's not a standard scroll--pic in my album). So, I chose the basic yellow cake with vanilla custard and raspberry filling. I care more about the cake looking pretty than tasting amazing. And I was careful not to choose any fancy fillings or add any bling (my florist will add fresh flowers) because I'd read too many instances of brides ordering hazelnut filling and ending up with vanilla by accident. I'm still second guessing myself though and wondering if I should try to get the RH to do a substitution.

I love your cake design. I am starting to panic about this bakery.

I know! I am feeling a little nervous about it too. I am going to WM on Monday for the mixer. It's my BM's day off, but I might ask one of the other BM's or maybe even Kira from Dazzling Moments about the bakery. I'm not sure about the Viennese, but I will definitely ask.

I was nervous about the cake also. I just went with Francisco's bakery. We had a good experience at the tasting. I do not want to spend a couple of extra hundred dollars when most people only eat a bite or two.
Remember if they got such horrible feedback, WM and other catering halls would not use them. During the tasting, many people were constantly coming in and buying.

Cake help!
Since we have the additional plated dessert item (I'm thinking of going with the cheesecake), I'm not freaking out over the cake. I just hope it looks like I am paying extra for it to look. And that the filling they wrote down is what shows up. But none of the fillings were really bad, so I guess that wouldn't be the biggest deal either.

I didn't taste any of their cookies, but it smelled good in there.

Re: Cake help!
I called them and Francisco is doing the Vienesse hour. They told me to do a tasting a judge for yourself. I'm going to schedule one and be optimistic. I hope it goes great or at least good
I spoke to Heather at WM and she said i think her sister or someone she knows just used them and they were happy.

Re: Cake help!
Just a FYI, there is a bride who just got married at WM in September last year and she said she was worried at first but it came out good. Her review is on the board.

That's good news. I'm trying to be optimistic as well. I'm actually looking into a groom's cake from a bakery I know we love...just in case. I look forward to reading your review this summer! :)
