we went to the bakery our hall uses and selected a cake - we ended up paying $$ - did this happen to anyone else?
what i mean is, when i was looking at catering halls, most halls said they included the wedding cake in their packages. but when i talked to the guy at the bakery he said that most halls, including SMCC, give a credit for a certain amount, which usually doesn't cover the cost.
the amount we paid isn't terrible, i was just surprised because i thought it was covered.

i think only certain cakes are included in the package... If you want something else you have to payt for it. At least this was the case at my hall

Most of the time it is a basic cake, nothing special - they get you on the upgrades

The only thing I would have paid extra for is if had gotten fondant, but we didn't really need it with the style cake we had. If I had an all white cake I may have splurged, but there was chocolate designs all over the cake so the fondant wouldn't have even been noticed.

my hall included our cake, they made it 4 tiers according to our head count and we had 13 designs to choose from, certain cake/filling flavors, frosting flavors, and if we wanted something else, then it was extra $$. We ended up combining 2 of the included designs

i know at jericho terrace only certain cakes are included. i guess it varies
