Cake issue........and question

Cake issue........and question

What happens if your guest list is lower than what you thought it would be when you first ordered your cake? Do you still have to pay for the number of guests you THOUGHT you would have or should you pay for the confirmed amount of guests that you WILL be having?

Shouldn't cake vendors be like catering halls and expect the number to change especially if you are ordering it so far in advance??

I would assume so-I would call and ask them-its not like they made the cake already-ask when you need to give them a final head count.

That's what we were thinking too, but our cake person said that we have a contract for a certain number and that's what she is charging. Soooo annoying! UGH!

WHY do people have to take advantage JUST becuase it's a wedding!

I think so too. There are bakers, however, that will be flexible on this if you give them enough notice. Did you try talking to the bakery about it?

Yah......I did today. She said that she is charging me for the number of guests that we thought we would have 4 months ago when we met with her. Just annoying! Our catering hall doesn't need the final number until 3 days before our wedding......grrrrrrrrrrrr

That does stink. I would think they could change it, but if it's a contract they don't have to.

Yes. Definitely. They don't start baking the cake until a few days before the wedding so you can and should def tell them the number has changed. My baker told me that's how it works.

OH NO! I'm sorry, I just read this. I suggest you call back and ask her this:

If 100 more people decided to come to the wedding, 100 more than you told your cake baker 4 months ago, the cake wouldn't be made to accomodate those extra 100 people and they'd go without wedding cake?
I dont' think that would be the case. If your number suddenly increased, I'm sure they'd charge you more and make you a bigger cake. The same should apply if the cake needs to be smaller. That's just wrong. Call her back sweetie. Want me to hurt someone unreasonable?

you know Kristy i was thinking about this same exact thing last week. It doesnt seem like the head count i have given my baker when i ordered the cake is going to match the people actually coming, its going to be less. I plan on calling her up to find out if that can be changed however i do have a contract with her as well.

i feel like kicking myself in the head fo giving her such a high head count..whats wrong with me, i couldve always added more people if i needed to

What about making a cake for less people w/ an upgrade, like the halls do? Get another flavor or something. Is there anything you wanted to do but couldn't squeeze in the budget?
