Cake Knife

Is it a waste of $ to buy one?

If i don't buy one--does the rh supply one??

I just remember spending a fortune on my sisters...she used it and can't find it now...

So i'm debating if i should buy one or not ??

if you dont buy one they will give you one. we never got around to getting toasting flutes or a cake cutter, tried 2 days before the wedding but linens and things apparently doesnt even carry that stuff! (we always go to BBB, but were near a LNT) and gave up. then my sis/MOH surprised us with the vera wang love knots set at our rehearsal dinner and we used it at the wedding.

im secretly glad because deep down i wanted a set -- and we'll at least try to use the cutter/server regularly. we had a potluck and someone brought a pie and we had nothing to serve it with -- we had to use a serving spoon, so we were planning to buy a server anyway

You don't have to use a 50+ dollar cake knife and server. Crate and Barrel sells a set for 9.95. It looks just as elegant. I'm pretty sure Party City and Michaels has them, too. I would go with Crate and Barrel, though..if you have one close to you.

I have the Vera Wang 'Love Knots' set, too! I LOVE IT!!!!

Re: Cake Knife

we got custom a cake knife and server set as well as the toasting flutes from Things Remembered and I love them. They have the most gorgeous sets.

They are in boxes in my apt and we haven't used them since, but I still love them!

Re: Cake Knife

I registered for a set because I figured whenever I have company and need a cake server I'd use the one from our wedding.

There is always cake at holiday dinners so you'll always have use for it. If you don't do the holidays know, you may one day....

I'm not getting china, I think I'd use a cake server more than I would use china.

Not doing toasting flutes..that I would never use again.

I personally bought a set, had them engraved and wish I didnt spend the money. We got a couple pics where you can see them but it sooo wasnt worth it to us. they are in a box now in the closet

My mom bought us the cake cutting set, it's Lenox but wasn't very expensive because it was on sale at Macy's plus she had coupons...it think it was $25 or something like that

I probably will use it again when there's a cake that needs to be cut

but I am not getting toasting flutes...I'll use the ones the RH provides
