Where is a good place to get cake poppers? Or should I try and make them myself?

I'm making my cake pops for my wedding. They are pretty time consuming and take a little practice to make them look really good. If you dont have a lot of people going to your event and you have the time definitely give it a try! otherwise there are a ton of people who can make them for you.

If you want, try out a batch of them to see how the process is. It's actually pretty and easy, and as long as you have the right materials, not time consuming. I made them for our e-party (pics in DIY album) and the biggest hassle was not having my Styrofoam block - FH threw it away lol. I improv'd and did 20 at time, using my sugar canisters to hold everything up. I made the cake balls the night before to let them set up in the fridge, and the dipping/decorating went really well. Plus...so delicious! FH's family told me to bring cake pops for the next party or we can't have any presents

OK. I've been seeing these for months and they look great!

Does anyone have a cake pop recipe with directions on how to make the little groom and bride decorations? Nice and neat ones!

I want to experiment, maybe use it for my shower. I'll bring something there too besides what the girls are bringing.

The general directions are:

- bake a cake according to package directions, let cool, and crumble in a big bowl.

- mix in about 1/2-3/4 of a can of frosting until moist.

- roll into balls, place on a plate or baking sheet

- dip lollipop sticks in melted chocolate and pop into the cake balls, let set - this REALLY helps the sticks take hold

**I highly highly suggest getting a Chocolate Pro from Michael's or Joann. makes life so much easier! **

For bride & groom, these are pretty awesome directions:

Can you make me some? lol just kidding! Did you use a kit? Where did you buy your materials?

I didn't use a kit, but all the materials were very easy to get. For the cake pops, I used half a can of buttercream icing and a betty crocker devil's food cake mix. For the the oreo truffles, it's a package of oreos turned into crumbs in a food processor mixed with a bar of cream cheese.

For 70 pops altogether:

- 2 14 oz bags of Wilton white chocolate candy melts. You can get these at walmart, joann, michael's, etc.

- 1 8oz bottle of whatever color Non-Pareils. You might need a smaller bottle for back up in case of spills. I used the Wilton Spring mix and I bought it from Stop & Shop.

- Package of 6' lollipop sticks - got off amazon

- Packages of cellophane treat bags - also got off amazon

I originally had a styrofoam block that I bought at Michael's and it REALLY is a necesssity. You can get away with not buying them if you have big blocks of foam left over from tv boxes, etc.

What's a chocolate pro?

It's an electric melting pot - this is one

Otherwise, you have to melt chocolate in the microwave which doesn't stay smooth and could burn...or melt it in a double boiler which has the same issues. With chocolate pro, it melts very quickly and stays super smooth and easy to work with.
