I just started looking at cakes...the prices seem a bit higher than I thought they would be!
Can anyone share how much they paid for their cake? Normal/Average prices, etc?

I saw Sylvia Weinstock giving a talk on Saturday and she said her prices are $15 and UP per person. So I figure anything you have found so far has got to be a major bargain!

Mine is included in my hall price--I am not sure whether you were asking about a wedding cake or another kind of cake like a grooms cake--but from what I understand they can be like $900 depending on what you want. Did you try Dortoni in Levittown they have the best cakes.

Mine is a bargain compared to that! I am still unsure though...I wonder if the prices are negotiable at all....

Does the hall also charge a cutting fee if you don't use their cake--just a thought.
Also did you try costco b/c they make great cakes.

I got my cake for $350 - i have gotten cake prices between 2.50 - 5.00 a slice. my lady is from riverhead and she made my shower cake - it was great.

My hall includes the cake thank God, if money is an issue I know a lot of ppl who get a small decorative cake and ask the baker to have regualr sheet cake in the kitchen that the staff serves. IMO of all the weddings I have gone to not too many ppl even get up to see the cake so just keep that in mind. Hope this helps.

i called Front Street Bakery in Rockville Centre (they have AMAZING cakes)... depending on how much of a design you want, it can run more $. i was quoted $300 for a relatively simple cake for approx. 100-120 people.

I've heard both good and not so great things about the cake at my hall. But I don't care... I would rather save that money for the honeymoon.
