Cake Sizes - Audrey's Bakery

Hi Ladies,
I'm trying to determine what size cake I should order.

I really really really love the look of a four tier cake that I found a picture of. I'm hoping that Audrey's can recreate the appropriate sizing. That said, a four tier seems a bit much for the # of guests I'm having. We're expecting about 150ish to show up and a four tier serves 125-150. AND we are having a ice cream bar.

A three tier will serve about 100 which is probably more appropriate for our # of guests.

We do get a four tier cake with our catering package. But I am upgrading two flavors and a shape upgrade. So obviously going with the 3 tier with less servings will save us a little money. Not much though!

So, for those that are married already.
How many servings did you have to guest #.
How much cake was leftover?

Anyone have a cake that was 14', 12', 9' and 6'? Share pic? Thanks!

We had a 4 tier cake for out 120 guests. They actually suggested it for us. They recreated it and it was PERFECT!

I dont know how much cake was left by out guests LOVED the cake and actually ate it. We had a chocolate fountain and people also ate that too. I wouldnt worry too much maybe they can make your cake a small scale so you can have 4 tiers and have it feed less people.

we had 4 tiers for 175 guests! it was enough plus we took home the very top layer

why dont you do three and have a fake layer so it looks like 4?

Good suggestion. If 4 is too much make one of the the layers fake. No one will know the difference. I've read people who have a 'fake' cake the looks real and in the back they have a sheet cake for their guests. Supposely the sheet cake is a lot cheaper and no one would know the difference.

But, if your only saving pennies by going from a 4 to a 3 layer then say with the 4.

Don't forget to take the top layer home for your one year anniversary

Thanks Ladies!
Going from a 3 tier to a 4 tier would only cost me about $10 extra in upgrades. But I think I'm just going to go with a 3 tier because 4 would really be a lot extra. I think even with 3 we'll have extras.
And the wedding is semi destination for us so bringing the cake back with us for a 8hour car ride (even in a cooler) in summer is not totally feasible. But I will run it by FI and see what he thinks!
