Do you need to use one? How many people left the top of their cake plainish?

Re: cake topper?
Out of all the weddings I've ever been to, I'd say 25% or less had a cake topper. Of the few that did have a cake topper, only 1 or 2 had it on top of the cake. I don't think they are necessary. If you fall in love with one, but don't want it on the cake, you can always put it on the table next to the cake.

I didn't have a cake topper, the florist put flowers on top of the cake instead.

Re: cake topper?
I had buttercream flowers. I put my cake topper by the cake at the base besides it.

That's what I am doing. It is too heavy for the cake.

Re: cake topper?
becuase we have one of those topsy turvy cakes, we have no choice but to have our cake topper on the table next to the cake.
If you have fondant flowers or decorations, or real flowers on the top of your cake, you don't need one. But, it DOES make a really nice keepsake for your china cabinet or kitchen sink window!
