i've seen many cakes without toppers...with maybe a few flowers around it...they look nice that way too.. i dont think a topper is really necessary.. dont stress :)

Yea, you should be fine without a topper...AND you'll save money... AND your cake will still look beautiful What kind of flowers are you using? Colors?

Re: Cake topper dilema
i agree...and if anything why don't you do flowers and possibly the wooden letters on the cake's table of like 'We Do' or 'Mr & Mrs.' you can just buy them at michaels and paint them so they are personalized

Use flowers - they're beautiful and classic. To be honest with you, of the 14 weddings we've been to, I haven't seen one cake topper used.

my best friend got married last month and she didn't use a cake topper either. Personally, I like it better when there IS one only because it livens up a sometimes plain lookin' cake. But I don't think it's necessary, just a preference. I had asked why she chose not to use one and she said that she had just forgotten about it up until about a week or two before the wedding. And by that point she just didn't wanna deal with it. Which was fine. I doubt anybody noticed besides me. The only reason I did is because I was in the process of my planning my own, so I tend to notice every little detail now-a-days. lol.

Re: Cake topper dilema
what does your cake look like, speak to your florist I'm sure they can provide flowers and it would look BEAUTIFUL! If you wanted to you can make a monogram cake topper with supplies from a craft store

Re: Cake topper dilema
i orderd one under 30 days - so if you really want one - try - you can have it rushed but it costs more money...
if its not important to you, nobody will notice if you dont have one....i went back and forth with it and then i decided to order one at the last minute i ordered an M that matches the font we have been using for everything and it will be covered it crystals to match our reception and cake - i think it will be a nice touch since our cake is on the plain side - we are just using the RHs cake.....
but if you dont have one, its not a big deal....

Re: Cake topper dilema
I did not have a cake topper. My bakery put sugar flowers on top which looked like porcelain. No one even noticed we didn't have a traditional topper.

IMO that bride&groom cake topper is so 80s. Nobody should do it anymore.
