Cake Topper Help!

Cake Topper Help!

So, I had a custom cake 'topper' made through Etsy. The trouble is, it's a drunk bride/groom and they won't be on the top of the cake, but the second tier from the top. (I'll include a picture at the bottom.) My mom feels like I should have something on the top of the cake. I feel like a traditional cake topper would seem out of place on the top, though I do agree that something should be on the top. So I found this cake, but I don't know how to implement it. Where can I find a champagne glass that's not too heavy to sit on top of the cake? I know there's plastic ones, but won't that look a little cheap? And how do I do those little bubble things? Are they made of sugar or something? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. TIA ladies!

The first picture is our inspiration for our drunk bride/groom. The second two pictures are of our champagne glass topper inspirations.

I'm not a big fan of flowers on top of cakes. I think it looks beautiful, but I feel like I don't want to eat it after there's been flowers on it. I know, I'm difficult!

Actually, champagne flutes/maritini glasses can be really light, I don't think it'd be a problem to put one on top of the cake.

I don't know about what the little things are made of though.

Any suggestions on where to get one? I don't want to get it online just in case it does arrive and it's too heavy.

I was thinking even like mini dessert cups? I don't want it to be huge either!

That's a good point, they're just so and I'm trying to not go out of the JT budget for Dortoni's. I really need to schedule a tasting with them.

Good question, that I'm not sure of.. I would shop around online at stores you can walk into and then go visit in person to do a weigh test.

ETA, Crate and Barrel has some really cute martini glasses thatmight work.

OMG I am the same way! lol I associate flowers with outside and don't want to eat anything that has been touched by something that was outside! lol

Yeah, that's where I was thinking, too. I'm planning to register there anyway, so it's not so bad.

It's cute but I think a little much since I have a lot going on with the rest of the cake. Thank you though!

Haha thank you!! I just stumbled across the picture on the internet and showed it to FH and we both cracked up about it. So I secretly had Etsy seller 'Blue Butterfly Designs' make a custom one with pictures of us. She did an amazing job, I highly recommend her. She gave him a little faux hawk and everything. He LOVED it.

ETA: Also, ladies, in case anyone is interested I found out that those little ball things are 'edible pearls' and they come in many different colors in 4mm, 6mm, and 8mm sizes. I'm going to talk to the Dortoni's and if they can't do it, then I'll order them myself online. They're not expensive at all!

Thank you for all your help!

HUGE fan, but FH's last name begins with 'O' and I think all the O monograms look boring (No offense to anyone who has one!) and a lot of them don't come in 'O' at all!

Why couldn't we use my last name, the 'S's are always so fancy.

I could be wrong, but the 'balls' look like rolled balls of fondant dusted in the pearlescent powder. They could possibly also be ginormous dragees (pronounced drah-jays) but I doubt that.

I found the dragees online, 8mm and even 10mm ones, but I'm definitely going to ask Dortoni's what they think will work best. I know we get a certain amount of $$ included with JT so I'm just trying to not go over that! Thank you so much!
