Cake toppers - have you thought about them?? How do you feel about them??
So, as lots of things, I have gone back and forth about this idea.
We aren't doing a traditional cake - doing cupcakes but with a regular cake tier so we can do the cake cutting ceremony cr@p. I have seen so many cakes w/ flowers - but dont want that.
I want a topper - My parents have theirs which would be nice but its so effin old looking and kinda dingy. I want a Yankees one b/c I think that would be super cute but haven't found anything all that exciting.
The monogram idea - ehh, it's nice - but what do you do with it afterwards? i guess for this i am old fashioned, so i want a bride and groom.
Have you ladies put any thought into this - or have gotten a cake topper yet? Any thoughts appreciated!

I want a bride and groom. And I def want something modern and a little abstract perhaps. Danielle on 2010 has a great one as her avatar, it's called Language of Love, and I love it, I think I want it. LEnox also has some really nice, not literal ones that are bride and groom. And who on here got a Lladro? Jess maybe? CRAZY expensive but beautiful.

i was thinking about doing the crystal cake topper (DIY bc those toppers with glitz are $$$ IMO) and just our last initial, not all 3
butttt someone posted this last week and i thought they were adorable
you send in a picture and what you want - and its customized to look like you.
The link is to a Yankee one but she does a ton of others - doesnt say anything about pricing though.
Not sure if this is kinda creepy though lol

We are doing a NY giants cake topper. Its the one with the guy in the giants helmet watching tv, and his bride is pulling him away.

You don't have to have a cake topper if you don't want one. Cakes (or cupcakes and a single layer) are usually very beautiful all on their own so it's of course a matter of preference.
I had an idea in my head of what I wanted and when I saw mine, I knew immediately it was it! I wanted a bride and groom but I wanted it in Lennox / ceramic. I wanted something modern and romantic, but at the same time very traditional. I wanted it personalized so I could have it on display in our home.
I got mine from Things Remembered and personalized the plate in front. It's on the top of our bookshelf in our living room and it still makes me smile every single day, 247 days after our wedding.
Everything from your wedding should make you smile IMHO.

not doing a cake topper. i think they are over rated and cost way too much money. i like the monograms, but then what do i do with it afterwards? probably just going to put flowers on the top....

The cake topper was actually one of the first WR things we got! I showed it to my MOH and that it was awesome and she actually brought it for us as an engagement present. FH has seen a stock photo of it but he has not seen the actual cake topper personalized to be more 'us' (I changed the hair color, the graphic on the TV is a picture of Call of Duty, the game console is an XBox 360, and I changed the cans on the floor to Bud Light cans). He says he doesn't want to see because he wants to be surprise at the wedding.
I also like that this cake topper is going to tie in so well with the surprise groom's cake I have in mind for FH

We may do one of the Disney Cinderella cake toppers....b/c that's my favorite, and we love love love birds, and we're using a Cinderella song as our first dance, so I'm willing to include ONE more Cinderella element in our day. I think the last one is the classiest...but I'm not really doing any ivory or gold in our decor, so I think the others would actually be a better match. We'll see!

my fmil got us a cake topper.. i didnt want one but well i got one.. well see how we use it.. didnt have much of a choice, its a acrylic heart with out names

no cake topper for me, but if i was to do one, it would probably be the monogram ones. i'm not a fan of the bride and groom ones.

I want a bride & groom. It's traditional and classic, and will be a cute keepsake to put in our home after the wedding.

I love it!!! I didn't want a cake topper before but I love this. Do you know where it was bought? I would actually be making the same changes you did. My fiance loves playing Call of Duty.

I'm 50/50 about cake toppers. I think i would like a figurine of a bride and groom, but not on the cake. Maybe as an accessory somewhere, and I like the idea of having it in your home in the years to come. (But I also haven't seen many that look like us, we both have very dark brown hair.) I think if I do anything on the cake, if will be the crystal monogram one.
