Cakes

I'm going to pick out menu soon. How do you go about choosing the cake, I know that there is the 'included' cake book and then a book of I guess nicer cakes that you pay additional for. What kind of cake did you choose? Will they recreate a cake for you from a pic?

Most good places will have a pastry cheff on staff. If this is the case, then they can probably take any picture you have and do thier best. My place said that they would copy my pic for no additional charge as long as it's not fondont or gum past or anything like that. If its not to complicated, they can probably do it. They might charge you extra, but soemtimes it's worth it.
Be carefull though, I worked in a hall for 3 years in college and one bride brought a magazine pic in of this beautiful rolled fondant cake; it looked like a cameo- light blue with white porcellan flowers etc...- the thing cost her an additional $1000...and it tasted awful!
(but it was pretty)

Westbury Manor will recreate cakes for a price.

They give you a selection of a few standards and then a few with flowers and they tell you that you can bring in pics if you want.

I think this is standard in most places.

A good friend is getting married there Sept 10th and she just told me what they were looking at.
