cala lilies???

cala lilies???

so i showed a friend at work a centerpiece of cala lilies and they said..you can't do lilies for a wedding! lilies are for funerals and they represent death!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what the??? has anyone ever heard of this before????

I think you can do whatever you want, it is YOUR day! Calla lillies are very elegant for weddings. I think I am doing them also for my BM bo-k's.

Every woman in my family has carried Cala Lilies on her wedding day, they're beautiful and hold up well through out the whole day.

May be your friend was thinking of peace lilies -- they're for funerals.

ETA: The only flower that I can think of that is usually associatied with funerals are Chrysanthemums...

I have worked for 800flowers.com for many of seasons p/t, and calla lillies doesn't represent death.
Lillies in general represent purity, and faith
There is no exact flower that represents death(in less your talking about a black rose, which would have to be spray painted)
Hyacinth (which is purple) Sorrow
Jonquil (which is yellow) Sympathy
In fact the most popular flower for a funeral would be a rose:
White: Innocence
Red: Love,and Respect or
Crimson: Mourning
All of these flowers are used for every occasion, so if that were true why would they even bring that up, epecially if they know your using it for your wedding.
Some people just talk to hear themselves speak, and don;t even know what they're talking about

i am using cala lilies as well they were my nana's favorite flower so it will be like she is there with me in spirt Plus they come in many different colors!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE CALA LILIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've never heard of that before! I've sadly been to many funerals and i don't ever recall seeing a calla lilly in any of the pieces. She has no idea what she is talking about
