California bride trying to plan a NY wedding

Yikes! I was born and raised on Long Island and the only one in the family who moved far away. I have to make it easier for everyone back there, and get married in New York. Also, we are on a tight budget. I am looking for a place that is unique and possibly outdoors. Please help, I have no idea what is out there. Thanks.

Approximately what are you looking to spend per head and how many guests? It's a good starting point for us to give some suggestions.

yeah that makes a huge difference. as well as

what time of year do you want to get married? winter is cheaper while spring & fall get expensive

what day of the week? friday and sundays are cheaper than a saturday

what time of day? if you go for something like sunday daytime, can be a fraction of the cost of a saturday nite.

approx how many people will you have? hall minimums and guarantees can be lower in the off-season, but they might want you to guarantee a higher # of guests during other times of the year.

check out the vendors on this site---as well as check out the website: Wedding Sites and Services

Chateau La Mer- you can get married on the water outside, brought into cocktail hour on a pretty boat, and cocktail hour is both inside & outside- it's gorgeous!!
Both rooms, upstairs and downstairs, have HUGE windows- ceiling to floor- with a view of the water

Re: California bride trying to plan a NY wedding

Hi, thanks for responding...

I have a huge family, there would at least 200 people at our wedding if we invite everyone. All of my friends and cousins have gotten married on long island, but we can't afford their venues.

We are ready to go with any time of the year, I would love a fall wedding, but again just trying to make it happen.

I am very new to all of this and finding it very hard to be excited about it because of the distance.

Any little advice would be very helpful!

Westbury Manor is unique in its own way and outdoors, very pretty place, not too far from all and they will prob give you a good price for tha time of the year

I am also out in California planning my wedding. I'm not sure what the prices are, but Atlantica in westhampton beach is beautiful. Maybe in the later fall season... the rates would be better? Good luck!

According to our vendor, the hot/more expensive season is from May-October. Nov-April, the prices are a little less expensive. When you call around ask them when their busy season ends.
Early Nov. is still nice and the leaves are still changing and falling then which makes for really nice pictures.
If you click on the vendors link you can take your time looking through them, and when you find ones you like, post about prices so you can really narrow it down for when you come here to look at them.
Good Luck!
