Re: caligrapher
I don't believe it is necessary. I think it's a very certain type of person that wants a very certain type of affair that uses hand calligraphy nowadays. Not that there's anything wrong with that at all, of course. Just for me, I'd rather spend that money on other aspects of the day, so I am having it done digitally by my invitation designer.

Re: caligrapher
It's beautiful but was not a necessary expense for me. I have nice handwriting so I did it on my own. Prices were outrageous just to write an address on an envelope IMO, but lots of girls have it done so maybe I'm just cheap!

Re: caligrapher
ITA....its gorgeous, however, not necessary! We had ours done professionally, however, via the computer...they look AMAZING and a fraction of the price!

Re: caligrapher
If you go to alltype.com she runs a business out of her home in plainview and charges $1 an envelope.

Re: caligrapher
Calligraphy was also a complete neccessity for me. My invites were a total labor of
However I don't think it is necessary for everyone.
Digital calligraphy runs about $1.00 per envelope though I believe that inkspun is cheaper.
Hand Calligraphy runs anywhere from $2.50-$4.50 per envelope.

It looks so nice, but my mom does it, so if I had to pay for it I am not sure what I would do. I don't think its necessary, it just makes it more elegant.

Re: caligrapher
My calligrapher will be my word processor and my printer. I don't see the need to spend the money when I can recreate the effect myself

Re: caligrapher
I think its great if you can spare the extra expense. I had the invitation company print the envelopes digitally and they came out just a good IMO, I received a ton of compliments on them also. Depends on what you want to spend, not really neccessity.

Re: caligrapher
I wanted hand calligraphy for our invites but when I found out the price of it from really good calligraphers I opted for computerized.
It looks just as nice and I found it for REAL cheap!
I HIGHLY recommend Inkspun! The owner Bill is such a sweet guy...he works from his home in Larchmont and is super fast and efficent.
I got it. I always knew I wanted it though. The woman I found to do mine it cost me $137 for 110 sets of outer and inner envelopes. Worth every penny! She books up about 5 months in advance though and her prices did go up a little. FM me if you want her info, her name is Michele Clark and she's in Staten Island.

Re: caligrapher
Depends. For us it is neccesary.
We went to tiffany's to order our invitations. The person they reccomend charges $2 a line. So its $8 in total with the inner envelope.
We also have a family friend who does this for a living. She charges $4.50 for inner and outer. She is in Huntington.
Hope that gives you an idea of cost.
