Calligraphied Envelopes

Anybody ever have trouble sending wedding invitations that have been calligraphied having the ink run due to rain? I would hate to send my invites out to find out they arrived all messy.

A good calligrapher will spray your envelopes to prevent them from running or smudging. I have someone good if you need someone. FM me!

Don't know how much it really works, but my friend bought a spray at Michaels to put on them before she sent them. She tested it under the sink and said it was better than having nothing on at all. But it didn't rain when she sent them so I don't know personally. If you are getting them done professionally they may already have the spray for a few extra bucks.

Thanks, ladies. I already have the envelopes at home. Anybody know the name of that spray?

Just asked my friend. This is what she said:

The fixative spray you can use on the envelopes is made by Krylon and it is called Workable fixative. I bought it in Michaels. Just make sure when you use it you spray in a well ventilated area. the fumes are really bad!!

Let me know if you need more info.

Re: Calligraphied Envelopes

From what I understand, India Ink is permanent and does'nt run when it gets wet. Actually, if you get it on you, good luck getting it off!!! Unless you use turpentine or something. Most calligraphers use India Ink (or at least they should).

I suppose you can try the fixative, but make SURE you get the matte finish. It comes in satin and glossy too. You don't want to put a shine on your envelopes!! You can get it at Michael's. Also make sure it's non-yellowing. And do it OUTSIDE!!! It STINKS and is toxic.
