calligraphy ideas

hey girls, i noticed there is alot of ?'s about what it costs to pay a calligrapher to address the invites, I thought that this may be helpfull,,

you can simply do it yourself, no craftyness needed

dafont.com allows you download fonts for FREE & there is a whole bazillion styles of calligraphy, from chalkboard styles to the very elegant..

I have used it for so many things,, Anyways, I downloaded a few just so you can see how it looks b4 u go hire someone to pay them to do this,,

If your able to sign on this website, chat , or basically work a computer , you can do this .,

k here is the samples i made just to give you an idea,

seriosuly, i did my e party invites with the fonts from there, & like i said , if your into the Hand type caligraphy , why pay someone $ 4 bucks or veen any amount per invite to do that when its looks exactlt the same, computer ink or pen ink , its all the same,..xoxoxox

when u download it , you have to open it , not save it !!! then once u opne it you need to extract the file, it all pops up for you ,

so click it to download, then click open NOT save, once u do that the file will open click that file & then click 'my computer' then click 'c' drive ., then click 'windows' then click 'fonts'

saves it for you that way .. viola

Re: calligraphy ideas

okay.... so you'll have to right click the file folder, and select 'extract all' which will lead you through the steps to unzip the file. once you've done that.... inside the folder should be 2 things that have icons that say 'tt' or something -- those are the font/fonts.

next go to 'start' then 'control panel'... and open up the one that says 'Fonts.' Then you can drag the two files into that folder which will install them, by highlighting or selecting them and dragging them....

then they'll be installed!

you should be able to open up your word document and use the fonts!

Thanks for the help, FH is really good with all this stuff and I think we are going to do it ourselves. We are probably going to make our own invites also.

'The Infamous Scriptina' So funny!

It's really pretty though- they all are... I love different fonts!!

That's a great resource for brides who want to do them on their own- Thanks for posting, very helpful... I think I'm going to notebook it for when my shower comes along (I have to do my shower on my own ) and for other things I want to make invites for (Even though I think I'm crafty challenged) since you said you don't have to be crafty I think I can handle it!!!

I'll also notebook it for other brides who might need it- that way, I can reference it and post it for them when the time comes

THANKS !!
