okay, as some of you may know my invitations are VERY LATE. we ordered them a long time ago, and after a long story they are scheduled to 'supposedly' be in by Jan 23rd. Our original plan was to have them addressed by a calligrapher, although now we are worrying that it will take too long since they came late and we want to send them out soon (calligrapher is friend of family)....so now we are thinking about just using the clear labels.
My question is, what do you girls think about printing the envelopes out on the computer instead? Do yu think it would be too much work? Does it get messed up easily or talk WAY too long? (we have 175 invites)
Our RSVP is March 12th. At this point, I would be happy to have them sent out by the 30th. What would you do in my situation??TIA

Re: calligraphy, printing on computer, or labels???
i think printing on the computer is fine. i did my STDs this way and they looked great. I would print on the envelope and not do labels

Honestly I would have someone do them, either print them on computer or hand write them

Re: calligraphy, printing on computer, or labels???
I agree to computer print on each envelope. I did clear labels for my STD's and they were sooooo shiny. I didn't like the final look.

Re: calligraphy, printing on computer, or labels???
I printed mine from my computer directly on the envelope.
It took me several days (about 16-20 hours total) to address 110 outer envelopes and 110 inner envelopes. I didn't use just one font and most of them needed to be re-justified due to odd letters, long last names or whatever. (I do this for a living so it probably would have taken me much longer if that wasn't the case)
In the end it was totally worth it tho. I got many, many compliments.

i know, i REALLY dont want to do the clear labels! i feel like we went out of our way to get nice invites and the clear labels take away from that. I think we may try printing them on the comp....i think that will look nice if we choose a nice font, i am just worried they will come out crooked

they DO sell matte labels which are not too bad, but i do agree printing on the comp would be much nicer.

Re: calligraphy, printing on computer, or labels???
print on the comp. even clear labels you can see and it will take away from the elegance. We are printing them on the computer. it isnt too hard although FH is a comp wiz so nothing seems hard for him. Just cut a piece of paper to the exact size as your envelopes and test it until you get it centered right. we were also lucky enough to find the same font that our invites are in so it will look better, I do recommend trying to find the same or a similar font.

Re: calligraphy, printing on computer, or labels???
I have opted to print mines directly on the envelope using my PC. I haven't actually done it as of yet but I've seen it done and it looks great!

Hand write them. Doesn't have to be calligraphy, just legible handwriting.

Re: calligraphy, printing on computer, or labels???
I don't love labels and it might be late in the game for a calligrapher. I say do them on your computer. Just use a laser printer so that the ink doesn't smudge (this is what i was told)

cut a piece of paper to be the same size as the envelopes practice on that.
