Calling all brides..honeymoon help

I am researching honeymoon destinations about 10 days in May 05' Sandals is of course our first choice (Bahamas), but we are also looking into the Maho Beach Resort at St. Maarten and Secrets Excellence in Punta Cana Dominican Republic. Some reviews are saying that the DR got slammed with Jeanne so I am not sure. Does anyone have any feedback or have you stayed at any other hotels on those island that are all-inclusive?
Thanks....

Unfortunately I don't have first hand knowledge of any of these. When we went to the Bahamas we stayed at Breezes, which is a few hotels down from Sandals and is also all-inclusive. We highly recommend Breezes but if you have a larger budget to work with I would go w/ Sandals, which is a step up. I've heard excellent things about Sandals.

My FSIL and her boyfriend stayed at Maho in St. Maarten and absolutely loved it...they both raved about it and highly recommend it.

I don't have any info on Secrets in Punta Cana...sorry!

Good luck w/ your research!

In my experience, Breezes is more a party atmosphere whereas Sandals is more a couples getaway secluded atmosphere. We went to Breezes Bahamas this year. It was extremely inexpensive and we had a blast but a never-ending, something always going on, sortof blast. Tons of alcohol, OK food. We were able to go to Sandals one of the days because we were thinking of going there on vacation in the future and we were just taken a back. It has 6 restaurants with an array of choices of alcohol and wines not to mention the separate private island that has a restaurant right accross the water. Just spectacular and VERY private. Infact when we were planning to have a destination wedding my FI wanted to get married there. I would highly suggest Sandals Bahamas for a honeymoon. I also had a friend that went there a few years back and just had great things to say about it.

I would DEFINITELY go with Secrets Excellence. We had the time of our lives...perfect HM location. It was away from all the other resorts. NO KIDS.....only older people and couples...no singles that were partying late into the night. No sloppy drunks....our biggest decisions were where to eat (because ALL the food was amazing) and if we should lay by the pool or on the beach!

They also have a professional photographer for hire to take pictures of you around the complex....we did it. I posted my HM pics too....such a great idea...I got the negatives too! And all the prints are 5 x 7!!!
