Calling all Long Islanders, wouldnt you be offended?
so on the subway a few days ago some guy was bothering me... trying to talk to me, anyway, hes like 'youre not from new york are you?' and im like 'YES! i AM'... (already offended.. then hes like where? and i said 'i live in brooklyn, but im from long island' and he goes to say 'long island is really new york' !!!!! w t f???? would anyone else be offended by this? he tehn went on to tell me i should pluck my eyebrows differently, that they dont arch them in NY!!!!!

If Long Island isn't part of New York, then where does it belong......... in its own category...
I think he was just being a jerk by his comment to you about ur eyebrows....

Okay, he was just being obnoxious...but many people don't think long island people and NYC are the same, like a NYEr would only be someone from the city, and LI people are LIers, and to my eye, the people ARE SO completely different, it's a very different culture..but that guy was just ebing obnoxious

It was probably his weird way of hitting on you...I don't think I'd be offended, I would just shrug it off. Odd that he commented on your eyebrows!! What a weird guy!!
I've had my share of strange people talking to me on the DC metro...although...sometimes I think they were talking to themselves but I thought it was directed at me, lol...
One guy ate a bag of pork rinds...he kept dropping them on the floor..then he'd bend down, pick em up and pop them in his mouth. I was gagging the whole way.

I met an upstater that said that they don't consider NYC's boroughs or Long island part of NY. They think it should be another state. They didn't even know where Nassau county was.

i work in queens and it cracks me up when people say, 'oh, i couldn't live on long island' and i stare at them and i say, but you are!!!

I hate when people say that...like if you dont live in a bourough u dont live in NY...its like saying upstate isnt NY either
