Calling all Maggie Brides and Bridal Reflections shoppers!

Calling all Maggie Brides and Bridal Reflections shoppers!

I thought I might share the events of my FSIL's weekend with you guys. She is getting married 6 months after me (which is a whole different subject) and she ordered a Maggie from Bridal Reflections in Massapequa. She had a very pleasant experience with them up until now. They called her to tell her the dress was in. So, excited, she went to go and try it on over the weekend, it wasn't her first fitting, it was more just to see it again. Well, when she tried it on, she knew something wasn't right. The gown looked and felt different from the sample she ordered. The manager was very persistant saying it was the same dress. The manager got 2 other Maggie's that were ordered and they looked the same as my FSIL's. My FMIL went and got the sample to compare. Turns out the fabric was completely different and there were some features on the top that were also different. My FMIL said the fabric looked very thin and cheap. Finally, after many tears were shed, the Bridal Reflections manager agreed and said that Maggie Sottero must have changed the dress and not notified the shop. They are going to send the dress back and have it re-made. Luckily she isn't getting married until October so she has time. But she said there were those 2 others girls dresses that were incorrect. I am not sure what the real story is. I can't imagine that Maggie would have changed the style of the dress and not told anyone. I don't know if Bridal Reflections was trying to give her a cheap knockoff. I don't know the style she ordered (again, it is a big secret and another long story) but I just wanted to tell you guys to really check your dresses when they come in. I have heard about many good experiences at Bridal Reflections, but there are always going to be a few bad stories as well. It is unfortunate, but I am hoping they correct the problem and it all works out.

Do you know which maggie dress it is? I ordered mine from the wedding plaza in baldwin and my dress just came in so i am going for my first fitting tomorrow night. Some of her styles look very similar so maybe the ordered the wrong dress? or are tying to pull a fast one on her? I could ask when i go in tomorrow if they know if any of the styles have changed... Let me know.

I don't remember who, and I'm NOT suggesting this happened, but someone told me that sometimes stores make copies of dresses and pass them off as originals.....she NEVER mentioned a particular store, but she said no matter where you order, make sure your dress compares to the sample (as far as quality of material)

I ordered my dress from there as well, can you keep us posted on the outcome, mine isn't a Maggie but I know when I bought my dress I SPECIFICALLY mentioned does the dress I order come in IDENTICAL to the sample and was assured it did. I even brought up the fact that I had read about a bride who ordered a dress and when it came in it was different (no buttons down the back or something like that) and they said after much research the bride had contacted the designer and the dress was not supposed to have the buttons, it was supposed to be exactly the way it came in.
I must add I had a VERY positive gown buying experience at BR and thought they were terrific, great eye for what works and what goes together well, even had to follow-up when they ordered the dress because I need extra length on my gown and they wanted to be sure everything was right, with regards to how much length ,etc.. they were very helpful, I hope this is a fluke and has a reasonable explanation and positive outcome . They have a great reputation and I know many people that have used them in the past.

How terrible!
I bought my maggie at RK Bridal. And it was the same dress and fabric. I love it

I had a horrible experience at Bridal Reflection. The sales woman was helping me and another at the same time. I had made an appt. weeks before. She kept bringing me dresses that was out of my price range.

I ordered my Maggie gown from BR, and there better not be a problem or I'm going to contact the designer. Thats total BS. Hopefully she'll get things figured out. Luckily I'll have plenty of time, but thats total cr%p either way.

I order my Maggie dress from Lillets, I'll keep my fingers crossed.

A few years ago I had a problem with BR when I was in my friends bridal party. Nothing with the dress, just with the customer service.

Re: Calling all Maggie Brides and Bridal Reflections shoppers!

a couple of years ago, my dad got married and we got our bridesmaids dresses from bridal reflections and i did not like it at all. rude, very expensive!!!!! and they ordered dresses that were too big so we had to pay a whole lotta cash to alter them (maybe $70 isn't a lot but like i was gonna gain 20 pounds in 4 months!!!). anyway, didn't like the service.

Re: Calling all Maggie Brides and Bridal Reflections shoppers!

Okay girls..........here is an update as to what is happening. BR supposedly contacted the designer and has re-assured my FSIL that the dress will be re-made exactly like the sample. We went on the Maggie website to see if there was contact info. There is no address or telephone number to contact her directly. There is an area on the website where you can write Maggie a letter. My FMIL is going to be writing a letter today. She is also going to call BR and tell them that she wants a phone number to contact Maggie's offices directly. FMIL wants to talk to them to explain the situation and see what they say. This way, if they say they never changed the style or fabric of her dress, she knows that BR is trying to pull a fast one. FMIL knows that BR has a number to contact Maggie, so there should be no reason that they don't give it to her. My dress is not a Maggie, but I have heard that Maggie's come with a certificate of authenticity. Is that true? I will keep you posted. I guess the lesson is that there is always going to be good and bad experiences at every salon. Unfortunately there are some crooks out there, so we all have to do our research. Believe me, my dress isn't in yet and even though I got it from a different salon, I am nervous about seeing it. And I don't have any time to spare. I will keep you posted!

Does a Maggie dress come with a certificate of authenticity? My friend just bought her dress from Lillette's.
