Calling all my date twins...11-25-06...when is your RD?
Hi Date Twins...
Wondering when you are doing your rehearsal dinner?
My FH's family has a ton of out of town people coming in for the wedding...no out of towners whatsoever for me. So he would like to invite all the out of towners to our RD which I'm fine with...I feel it's the right thing to do. Only problem is most of them are all coming in early enough to be here for Thanksgiving....so we sort of feel we need to do something with the out of towners that day too. I mean we can't have them alone on Thanksgiving. But it's a lot of people altogether with my FH's big family that is all here that we do Thanksgiving with every year...plus a good 30 more out of towners. So no one in my FH's family really has the room to host such a large Thanksgiving. His older brother has a house and is offerning to get a heated tent and have it there...but we feel like we should give him $ towards that b/c why should he foot the bill to host all these people who are in town for our wedding. So then it's just sort of silly to me to have another dinner...a rehearsal dinner...with all the exact same people we'd have on Thanksgiving just plus my small family and our BP which is small and mostly family. So my FH thinks we should just make the RD on THanksgiving. But of course my family doesn't like this idea and doesn't feel the need to spend their holiday with 30+ strangers...all the out of towners. I sort of see their point...I should add that these out of towners we will probably never see again ourselves - they literally only come in for weddings and funerals and there are no more weddings in the family after ours. So it's not like my family cares to get to know these out of towners better b/c they (as will we) will never see them again. But at the same time why should we host 2 huge dinners 2 nights in a row??? We are hosting the RD...my FH told his parents from day 1 that we would pay - whatever they would have done for our RD to just put towards our wedding gift. So I am so torn - don't know what to do.
I figure if we do the RD on Thanksgiving then on Friday I can do a nice brunch with my bridesmads...I have 2 that are friends so I really would not expect them to ditch their families on Thanksgiving to come to my RD. So I could be with them then...do manis/pedis too. Could be a nice relaxing day before my wedding with no RD to rush to.
My mother says we should do the RD the Friday before T-giving to avoid having to invite all the out of towners....but we'd still be hosting them on T-giving. So I'm really torn!
