Hi Ladies! We've already booked Louis XVI but am now having some anxiety about it. I'd love to hear from someone that has had a wedding there. I think my main concerns are with the size (we're expecting about 120 ppl)and the up-keep of the restaurant. Any assurances would be helpful. Thank you!
I loved Louis XVI for my wedding but it was too small because FH's family is huge!!! What a gorgeous room!

I looked at it also and the room is beautiful. I had my heart set on it before I went there, but realized that it would be too small for our number. I'm sure it's going to be fabulous.

Re: calling all past Louis XVI brides
Finally....a Louis XVI bride!!!!
I think the room is plenty big enough for 120 - we're planning 150. When I was there the room was set for a party for 160 (I think that's the right number) and it looked great. The room is so fantastic - I fell in love the minute I saw it. I've been to the restaurant so I can vouch for the food and the service in the restaurant is spectacular.
Did you meet with Andy? He was pretty clear about the fact that they have a reputation to maintain, so I can't imagine they'd let 120 people leave thinking the service wasn't up to par.
Naturally, we are hoping for a beautiful day because they we can have an inside/outside thing for the cocktail hour and of course I'm praying for an outside ceremony. Are you having the ceremony there?
Please keep in touch - I can't wait to hear how things go for you. Good luck!!!

Re: calling all past Louis XVI brides
Hi Jennine!! so glad to hear about another Louis XVI bride! I think I'm just having general anxiety about all my vendors, so it's good to hear some reassurances. We've been planning this since last May 04 (and the wedding isn't until this Sept!) so I think the long engagement is just causing me to second guess everything. I fell in love with Louis when we first went there too -- FI and I didn't want to have a typical catering hall and so I thought Louis was perfect. We had lunch there one afternoon and it was fabulous so I'm not worried about the food, I'm more worried about the 'upkeep' of the place. I've gone back several times and everytime something catches my eye. I noticed that all the paint is scratched up along the far wall (especially near the door to get outside), the dance floor is REALLY small, and the last time I was there the door handle was missing from the door!! I know i'm just being paranoid and too particular, right?! also, we're having an 8 piece band and I'm worried that it's too much for that space. Are you having a band or a DJ? I think an outdoor ceremony there will be beautiful! We're getting married at the church but we're keeping our fingers crossed for an outside cocktail hour. I'd love to keep in touch with you so if you need anything email me at [email protected]

Re: calling all past Louis XVI brides
120 is fine!
we had 100 and it was perfect size-wise. the place DOES need TLC, but after weighing all the pros and cons we were satisfied with our choice given all the options.
the food was great and so was the service, our guests commented and were pleased with both. one thing i did NOT realize and was told after the fact was that they only served 2 types of beer...i can't remember what they were, but not 2 that i would have chosen given the option. the wine and liquor was great and plentiful
we had a 7 piece band who fit on the stage, i was worried about that as well. i'll FM you links to pics so you can get a better idea of layout.
Andy and Alberto are great, they do know what they are doing when it comes to food and service, the upkeep (or lack thereof) is not as noticeable after a few drinks
I really think the room is beautiful so I'm not worried about a thing. Everything is going to be great - honestly, I didn't even notice any paint problems, but I'll be sure to be on the look out when I go back. FH and I are going to Louis for our V-Day dinner. I'm sure Andy will let me go into the room to check things out. He's been great!
We're having a band (thanks for the picture!). I was a little worried that the stage was small for a band but after seein the picture I'm fine. I really don't think the room is small - let's say intimate. LOL
I know what you mean about second guessing yourself...I do the same thing. When we got engaged Brian wanted to get married in April - I thought he was crazy, but now I'm sorry that I didn't agree. The longer this planning process takes the more I'm making myself crazy!!!!!
What other vendors are you using?

Hi Jennine, we're using the John Malino band, the Flower Barn (in Seaford, I had some recommendations for him on the knot but haven't heard anything about him on these boards yet), Sir Oliver limo and 4 eyes photography (kellie Walsh, she's in Manhattan). oh and we blocked tons of rooms at the Radisson is Holtsville. FI is OOT so we have about 50 OOT guests and thought Radisson was closest and they gave us a good deal. I need to schedule some makeup/hair trials, have you done that yet? Are you doing high or low centerpieces? I'm going with low..... btw, realized that I gave you a wrong email address (I combined my work and home account). You can get me on [email protected] or [email protected]
