Hi girls. I am having a dilema over this location. I really love the facility. I would perfect for the amount of people I am having. I've met with the managers and got pricing for this year and it fits my budget. I don't want to stir any unnecessary worry (please I hope no one takes it that way) but are any of you concerned or unsure about the quality of the reception/service or the food due to the fact the these caterers are not re-signing their lease? People close to me have said that I have so many other things to worry about when planning a wedding, one thing you do want to be on that list is the reception hall - that you need to trust them completely. My question really is, can I trust them fully if I know that they are not going to be there 2 months after my wedding should something go wrong and I have no one to complain to or get money back from? I feel really bad writing this b/c I don't want to worry any brides that already booked there. But I would like to hear from brides that have worked with them recently or just had their wedding there to see how it went. Plus, I am afraid to wait until next year to book as the impression I was given was that the price may go up. I already called the town hall and they have no decision ready as to who will take over nor do they know when that decision will be made. Any thoughts?

I looked into the Port Jeff CC when I was looking for halls, but since I was looking for 2004 they wouldn't let me consider booking. One thing that did bother me was that the person who was showing me around said that they really weren't putting any money into the hall since they weren't sure they would be there in a year. This included not replacing any carpets or furniture or adding any new updates to make the place more impressive. It was beautiful to begin with but I would be worried that they would let the place go a little because of not wanting to spend any money they would lose in the end.

I'm getting married there on 9/20/03. I booked it in April of 2002 before all of this came out. I spoke with them yesterday. I wanted to know the details also. From what they told me, the catering business currently there is a family owned company for over 25 years. They are retiring and don't want to book for another company for next year. They will only book for their own company. They are very proud of their family name and want to ensure it is always remembered that way. Therefore, they ensure me that they are as dedicated as always to their quality and service.
