I am going to start going tanning for the wedding and I need a plan. I am extremely fair. I am guessing I should start out at 10 minutes. Should I start out in a stand up, then go to a bed, then increase to the orbit and then keep doing the orbit until I am the color I want to be and then just maintain? How often should I go? HELP!

BRI...i wouldn't bother going into a standing one..I hate them!!!
Go on the bed for 10 minutes and then work your way up to about 25...Once you are able to get a nice base with the 25 minutes..then you can go into the orbit or sunenbraun. BUT becareful the orbit or sunnenbraun, depending on your skin type can start to make you look organgy. So ask the person behind the counter which they think is better for you! TO be honest i wouldn't bother using them...Usually they are for a quick 'bronzy' look and do not usually last unless you are a regular...
If i were you the amount of times you go really depends on how you react to the minutes and its changes....
FM me if you want more info..

Re: Calling all professional tanners
My sister-in-law owns a tanning salon so I know a bit about tanning.
She always recommends a lotion to put on your skin before tanning. Your skin tans better when it's moist than when it's dry.
With the stand up vs the law down beds...
The stand up is good because it gets all over...especially under your arms...so you don't have the dreaded white armpit look. Stand ups are very powerful so if you're looking for a quick tan you should do that.
The lay down beds are good too, plus they're relaxing. However, you have pressure points in your back and by your butt...let me explain... Have you ever noticed that after you tanned ( in a lay down bed) you have these white spots in between your shoulder blades and right above your butt? Those are your pressure points.
I would say to alternate between both beds but definately use a lotion. Some salons sell 'shots', where you don't have to buy the whole bottle. I wouldn't go more than once a week in the beginning too...especially if you're fair...give you skin time to get used to your new tanning schedule and then maybe twice a week when the wedding gets close.
Good luck... i hope I helped a little...

Thanks- I always do the stand-up- I thought stand-up and beds had the same power, just a preference of standing or laying down . . . I wanted to try the bed, but if it is less powerful than a stand-up then I will stick with a stand-up

Some lay down bed actually do have the same power of a stand up...at better tanning salons...it still is preference.
I'd go with the stand up...I like to move around, put my arms up and down, rotate, etc...

Re: Calling all professional tanners
I personally prefer the stand up for a couple of reasons - its quicker - it does a better job (no weird spots) - I have big boobs so when I lay on the bed they really spread apart and can look really funny - up shot to the bed is you can really relax......if you are really fair I would defniitely say that 10 min would be to long in the stand up and depending on how new the bulbs are and how strong the beds are 10 min may be too long in the bed also...Hope this helps

If you're pale, don't start out with 10 minutes! You'll get a burn. I would suggest you start with 5 minutes for your first couple of sessions and add a minute everytime you go back for a another session.
When I used to 'seriously' tan, I would do 2 sessions each visit, one in the standup and the 2nd in the bed. (Some salons won't allow double sessions.)
Although I don't go tanning all that often anymore, I tend to prefer the beds (I used to use the Orbit, but now use the Onyx.) I never had an issue with white armpits b/c I put my arms over my head during the session to avoid that.
Oh and definitely use a lotion! I've always liked Australian Gold's products.

Re: Calling all professional tanners
I think the amount of minutes you start out in depends on what type of bed you are going in. I tan pretty often, I go to a great salon in RVC. I do their level 4 beds (strongest there) and I do the max, 12 minutes. I didnt even know they still had 30 minute beds anymore I agree with wearing a lotion, it definitely gives you a better tan. I personally dont care for the stand up, I am too lazy, but it does give you a very even tan, which is probably better for your wedding day. Which type of bed would you be going in? 30 minute max, 15, 12, 10???? then I could advise you better!
