Calling all teachers !!

I am finishing my master's next week and am pretty sure I have a leave position for January.

However, in case I don't please let me know the best districts to sub in.

I will be certified in Math.

If you happen to know what districts pay their subs, let me know that too please !!

I live in western suffolk.

i know smithtown pays pretty well.

I know some of the districts in Western Suffolk pay pretty well like Huntington and I believe Commack but you must have certification to get the higher salary. Some districts will pay $100 for certified subs while for uncertified subs they will pay $75-85. I see you said you are getting certification. Will you have it by January?

I teach in Smithtown, so if you get on the sub list, let me know so I can request you! (that is if you don't mind kindergarten )

I know from expierence that Smithtown looks carefully at subs to see if they are good and candidates to be hired. It's a great 'in'.

I just heard today that East Islip pays 125 a day I would definitely look there, but something tells me they probably have all the subs they need!
I am pretty sure Hauppauge and Smithtown are comprable. And Brentwood actually pays pretty well.

I'm in the same place as dmorris, although I'm currently teaching. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for next year. I'll be certified in early childhood and cannot wait to get OUT of the Catholic school system.

As of last year Three Village pays $102, then after 40 days (doesn't have to be consistent) it goes up to $112. They recently went to a computerized system, so you can get jobs by going online, and dont have to wait for that awful 5 am phonecall!!

Another tip... I would try to get paperwork into the districts asap, sometimes it takes awhile to get on the sub list!

Congrats on almost finishing your masters... i was ELATED the day I turned my thesis in!!

It is so great being a first year teacher, not having to worry about my masters!
