My friend just graduated and she's having a party- I wanted to get her something to do with her new profession- any ideas are very appreciated- I was thinking of a business case possibly.

The teacher store I shop at is L.L. Weans. They have two locations. When I graduated my sister bought me a name plate for my desk. I still have it there today. That's a nice idea.

A nice tote bag with teacher symbols...like apples, blackboards, etc...have it personalized -- I think Lillian Vernon has it for under 15.00. Fill it a few things for her desk. Perhaps an 'apple' clock. I have a red marble apple clock that I received as a gift. It is on my desk in my classroom.
Tiffany's has a whole bunch of 'Apple'things (made for teachers) like a nice paperweight, etc... i dont remember the prices being too bad with them either... and you can never go wrong with that little blue box

The company Land's End makes unbelievably great canvas tote bags -- my mother had one and used it daily for 15 yrs! It didn't even break, it just started to look shabby.
Verrrry affordable for the quality you're getting, and they'll embroider a monogram for you too.
check it out!

I would say a gift cert. to LL Weans in Farmingdale. There's another store called Island School and Art Supply located in St. James and Holbrook I think.

ya know...sometimes just something beautiful like a inspirtaional picture to brighten up the room is enough or a plant or a 'bad day basket' with chocolates, pick me up notes , scented lotions , things like that would be cool

There's also this new book out called 'Teacher Says' by Evelyn Porreca Vuko.
it's a great book with '30 Foolproof ways to help kids thrive in school'. I found it really useful as a resource for new teachers.

Re: Calling all teachers!!! NWR
what about a nice set for her desk (target actually has nice ones) like a post it holder, a pencil holder, a place for paper clips and staples and stuff.
Someone got me one of these, put the also have places for pics in them. I absolutely love it. I can stay organized and also can look at my pics!
