We are getting married in Oct '05 at TP and would appreciate any information you can offer. Particularly, we are thinking of doing a cocktail reception (coctail hour stations served during the reception rather than a sit down dinner).
Also, the chocolate fountain seems pricy - is it worth it? Do they negotiate the price?

they do negotiate, but you must be firm. Wait till you do your final menu, they will come down then.
I have some proofs online if you'd like to see!

Hi. We're having our reception there 10/05 too - I love it there. . I liked the idea of the appetizer/salad combo with the sit-down dinner, but am not considering the buffet.
We're doing the international coffees and pastries for a little extra. I LOVE chocolate, but didn't even think about the fountain because of expense and I think it doesn't give enough of a selection. If I wasn't on a budget, I'd do the viennese hour.

I'm getting married there in November, and peabody on here is getting married this Oct. 1. So you aren't having a dinner? Just appetizers? I didn't consider the buffet, though it is cheaper, because I like the sit-down dinner--seems more formal to me.

We are planning on having the cheese and crackers spread, the raw bar and the passed appetizers for cocktail hour. The dinner will be all the stations held open for a few hours - pasta, carving, entree dishes and salads.

What is the price difference between these cocktail stations and having entrees? Are they still including a cake?

We decided to do the cocktail stations not to cut costs but to give our guests a change of pace. We are so sick of the formal sit-down dinners. This gives our younger crowd the option of staying on the dance floor rather than sitting down - it also allows people to mingle more and makes the wedding more social.

I'm sorry, did not mean to offend. Why did you not opt for the buffet? Will there still be seated assigned tables? Will they supply a wedding cake?
ETA: We booked before renovations but everything has gone smoothly! It is even more beautiful now and it was exactly what we were looking for.

I'm sure this post is about to take a turn for the worst but I am also having our wedding there. We opted for the fountain and Viennese hour but we also got the place for the price before the renovation so we had some room to add stuff. Actually we added everything they offer
I haven't heard anything bad about it there. FM me and I will be more than happy to give you detailed info on anything. I was also at a wedding there at the beginning of the month so I've had the chance to be a guest!

I'm actually doing the same thing at the Bourne through Lessings, i think it's a great idea and we also are sick of formal sit down dinners... We are hoping for more partying and less down time. Enjoy!

I've never been to a formal sit-down dinner with FH (first one in a couple weeks! ) so I think I just couldn't picture what it would be like without a seated dinner.

Yeah, we loved the idea too...you have to tell me how the cocktail reception works for you. I think it is such a great idea - sometimes i hate slowing down a good time to eat - this gives the guests the option to eat whenever. My major concern is that the amount of food at cocktail hour. Does that make you nervous at all? Wow your wedding is this weekend! So exciting!

I will definitely tell you how it worked out. Nervous about what for the cocktail hour? Plenty of food at both, I got some xtra stations.

My sister had this type of arrangement at the Meadow Club years ago. It was a Saturday afternoon wedding and it really suited that time of the day. It was pretty much as formal as a sit-down, but it's all about the ambiance you want to create.
