So, last night I was with one of my BMs (that's getting married in 2 months) and she said that one of her soon-to-be-married friends said to her 'why don't we just call it even with the weddings - we both won't bring gifts to each other's weddings'.
What do you guys think about this? Is this appropriate to ask a good friend? I have mixed feelings, but honestly I feel like it makes sense and is actually a good idea, especially if you're getting married within months of each other. Thoughts?

Yes... whats the point of giving someone money when they will be giving it right back in 2 months...
i did it with friends that got married in 2 months before us... i gave them like 20 worth of scratchoffs so the card wasnt empty! and they did the same for us... we promised if either of us won big we would share it!

While I completely see why calling it even makes sense, I would rather give and receive. I just feel like it's nicer, but if you are okay with it then why not?!

My friend did this with a couple who got married a month after her. It worked out great on both sides. No need to bring money when you'll just be getting it back in a month.

I like the idea too.. You never know a person's financial situation and if they are good friends, they should understand that it is not personal. Especially with NY weddings being about money.

if everyone is willing to do it...why not.
realistically, you would prob just give the same exact gift for the wedding you received (i know that is my plan for weddings i have in May & June) so why bother.

Lots of people do this when the weddings are so close to one another. I'm all for it. It's a waste of a check for both of you.

except, just make sure everyone is on the same page. because if you're not, you might wind up with a bunch of no-gifters at your wedding that you gave gifts to
