Can a dress be

taken in more than 2 sizes? And while I am asking, how far in advance did everyone buy their dress?

Depends on the style of the dress, but probably yes. I ordered my dress 13 months in advance.

I hope so - I ordered mine in June for an April wedding.

Same here....

I was told it can be taken in 2 sizes, but 3 might be pushing it. Each designer is different, though, so I would ask the bridal shop if they know or email the manufacturer.

It depends on the material and the cut. usually it can.

yes, my friend lost weight before her wedding she went from a 12 to a 6, and they fixed her gown. but it probably depends on the style

I ordered my dress Private Label by G in May and recieved it in the begining of August, most salons quoted me 4-6 months but my salon ordered it right away and I got it in under 3 months.

Taking it in I would think that if the dress is very detailed on the bodice that you could not take it in more than 2 sizes without alot of work which means $$$

I think it is simple. It is a satin strapless aline with some beading in the front and a lace overlay and split front and zipper for the back.....

My Dress was taken in at least 5 sizes!

I ordered mine about 14 months b/f my wedding. I've dropped about 20 lbs. since then and I've had no problems having my dress taken in. My seamstress said up to 4 dress sizes.
