Can a friend get ordained and legally marry us in State of New York?

Can a friend get ordained online and legally marry us in the State of NY?

I've heard that they can for 'show' but you will have to officially get married in like city hall or something beforehand....

my hubby's best friend got ordained and married us at Villa Lombardi's!! He had to take a bunch of tests but well worth it!!!! If you need more info FM me I can ask him

we having this done..my FH cousin is doing it..and everything is completly legal..dont worry about a thing..

some people feel they can contest it in a court say if something happens with one of you like death or something..but i called almost every town clerk and found this out
