Re: Can anyone help me with the optimum online installation- DIY?

For one, the usb plug that goes into the modem doesnt go completely in..it wiggles.. i find that odd that it doesnt fit snug.
THe computer kept saying that it was a problem with the modem. and then when i thought everything was okay, i had no cable!!

the other thing is that we live in an apartment and the main cable line comes from the lady downstairs. her line is then split between the 2 cable boxes that we have... do you think that could be a problem? it says it should be installed to the main cable line.

I dont know which plugs to put in which places..between the tv,cable box,vcr and computer.

any ideas?

A. at all possible, avoid USB for installing your modem. you want a ethernet cable.

B. your 2 splits could be a problem. optonline will advise you they want it off the first split in the house to have the best signal

does your computer have a network card installed already? the hole would look like a phone jack, but slightly bigger. your modem should have both ethernet and usb...

fm if anythhing more detailed is needed
