Can anyone help me with this.....unemployment insurance

I was collecting UI in March until I got a temp job. It was supposed to be for April through the end of June. I am still there and the dept I am in is ALL caught up, and from what I can see, no longer needs me. I sit there all day with nothing to do. I even ask them if they have anything to give me and there never is. I asked the boss when my final date is and she said she doesn't know and wasn't clear why.

I hate sitting there knowing there are a million and one things I can be doing at home such as wedding stuff and packing for our move on 8/1. I feel really overwhelmed when I get home because I run around like crazy....I want to quit, but will I lose my UI if I do? The person they would contact in HR would vouch for me and say there was no more work if need be.....I'm just miserable there

It depends what Human Resources puts down as your reason for termination. If they indicate that you quit then you are automatically disqualified. If they indicate that you were let go due to lack of work then you will be able to collect.

You are better off waiting until they end your assignment.

Maybe you could be up front and ask if they can terminate you. You aren't collecting against them but your previous employer. I am sure they will understand being your getting married in a few weeks and it is summer.

at DH's job...they knew lay-offs were coming and one guy said he was going to quit in 2 months...so he offered himself to save someone else...and he got severence...
