Can anyone post plus size BM dresses from their own wedding?
One of my BM is threatening to drop out because she is not happy with any of the choices myself or the 2 other BM have selected. She refuses to wear anything with a tie or bow at the waist b/c she is a size 18 and says that it will not look right even though she has never tried one on. A lot of what I am finding has one of those incorporated in the dress. I am having a day wedding so I do not want many embellishments and prefer a shorter length. I could kick myself for giving my BP the option to make selections on dresses. I am just so annoyed at this point that a part of me wants to just let her get out of being in my wedding BUT another part of me wants her there b/c we have been friends for 10 years and I am still hoping that I will find a dress we can all agree on. This isn't the only issue... she wants to pick her own hairstyle, her own shoe type (i'm talking about early 90's platform) her own jewelry...... hello, it's MY wedding. Grrrrrrr Thanks for any advice.....

I don't have any dress pics but I have to agree I am not thin, size 14 maybe a 16 when i pig out and I wouldn't want a big bow on my stomach area to draw attention even though i really don't have a huge stomach but I would try on the dress if i was asked to just to see.
She should respect you enough to do that. YOU never know how bad it will look on your figure. Depends on where she is big you maybe able to get the same dress but in a diff. cut so she doesn't look like she is wearing a tent or tied up in a bow pointing out her flawed area. She sounds like she does not want to compromise and wants herself to be more important then you. You have been nice enough to shop with her, i think its a possibility you need to cut her out of the wedding.

ok, don't be upset, but I personally I HATE when brides tell bridesmaids what shoes to wear. Are you wearing them? NO! Let the girls be comfortable. That said:
I had 8 bridesmaids ranging from a size 8-22/24. Being a size 14/16 myself, it was important to me to make sure they were comfortable. Take her to Davids to try on other styles. Davids has styles in every size to see. I took four of my girls to the dress shop ahead of time. These four were the hardest to fit (my MOH is plus size & busty, my friend is tiny waist but huge breasts, my short busty friend and my other friend who has a skin condition that she is extremely shy about). They agreed on something. I had another plus size bridesmaid, but she was in FL and very laid back with styles. I can tell you that I always wanted pink dresses but all my girls veto it. So they wore red. I also made sure I got a style that came with a shawl. The girls wore it for pictures and at the church. Here are what we choose:
p.s. have patience with her. You need to understand a little what she is feeling. She is probably the only larger bridesmaid and all the other girls may be ok with a slinkier style, but she won't. I know its your day, but as her friend try and understand. I take this topic very seriously. I think some gals don't understand the other side theory. Until you walk around in life being the largest gal out of your friends, the girl nobody talks to at bars, the sidekick, etc, its hard to understand.

i have a BM's in all different sizes and shapes and being a PS bride myself I was sensitive to this issue so I was flexible with them but gave them direction....that being said look at www.ariadress.com.....they have gorgeous dresses and what I am doing is picking the length and fabric/color and the girls are ordering what style dress they want/feel most comfortable in, everyone is happy!
I have been working with aria and have nothing but good experiences.

Thanks for all of your advice.... I really feel that I have been taking all of their opinions into consideration especially hers... I only had a few requirements... not too many embellishments & I prefer a shorter dress or tea length. As far as shoes, I am picking the color & of course they can pick what is comfortable for them but I don't see how the platform shoe (that I do not like) that she is eyeing will be very comfortable. I really like the pics of all your BM dresses. We are going to RK & kleinfelds in a few weeks & I can't imagine that we won't be able to find something.
