can anyone recommend a digital camera?

can anyone recommend a digital camera?

We're looking to spend around or under $400. We just want something decent, easy to use, and not too flashy looking (we're taking it as we hike around Fiji for 3 weeks).

Any recommendations? We're planning on buying this weekend.

Funny, I posted a similar question on BHB... we're looking for a digital video camera. Any advice on video cameras out there??

I have a SONY Mavica (standard digital camera) and I looooove it! Not sure how much it cost, though....

We bought this one when it first came out - 3 years ago? We absolutely love it...and this new one has great upgrades. It was about $900 when we bought it tho...it's a great investment - perfect pics & 30 sec movies.

But any of Canon's point and shoot cameras should provide what you are looking for. Personally, I don't think you can go wrong with a Canon.

We just bought a Cannon S400 and love it. I think it's selling for $500 in the stores, but FH got it online for $400.

I also have the Canon Powershot G3. It's a little more expensive than what your looking to spend, but IMO, well worth it.

Trish: We also have a Canon Powershot. FH bought it last year. It was expensive but well worth it. The pics are awesome. However, it's sooo big and bulky. So he recently got the S400 which is smaller and also gives awesome pics.

We have the same Olympus one as Jenn524. It is our first digi-cam and it's so easy to use. A few of the pics we took on our honeymoon look like postcards! I was amazed by the quality.

ETS: We also liked that it's so small it can fit in a pocket.

Marcela - agreed on the big and bulky issue.. But it takes such clear pics and we love it so we are hessitant to give it up!!

Trish: I really hate that it's so big! FH really didn't think of it when he bought it. He was only concerned with quality and that was the best one out.
