I have been planning from DC and I have no chances to go to showcases b/c they are usually on weekdays...I have been booking a lot of vendors based on recommendations but haven't booked a band yet. I know this may seem like a small budget, but I am looking to spend no more than $4,000 ..is that possible?? I'm so confused...and many bands I've checked through the internet don't have demo's to listen to. Any help would be so, so appreciated....
Thank you!!!
ps-I just want your typical music played, dance stuff, covers etc... :)

Re: Can anyone recommend a great and affordable band?
edited to add: most bands dont' have any music samples online anymore. There was some kind of law about it, and about a year or so ago, it actually started getting inforced...copyright issues I think

Thank you! I'm checking out some right now...
Its so nervewracking cause the band is something that can make or break the tone of the night and i want people dancing!!
Has anyone used 'Rhapsody?' They gave me a good price quote but told me their CD didn't do them justice..made me a little nervous but someone recommended them...
Thanks again :)

I also recommend Eastcoast Band. We added a few people so I'm paying a little more than you're looking to spend, but I think they start at a/b $4000. Go to their website and email Paul. He's so nice and helpful. I think he may have a tape he can send you to listen to. Good luck!

Re: Can anyone recommend a great and affordable band?
I they have samples online, but the quality is so-so.
I saw a video , & they seemed great. I am a little nervous, b/c I didn't see them play in person & I don't know anyone that used them.
I can review in about 2 weeks.
They can perform as 5-9 pieces. We have 5 for about $3400.
I wanted a small band, because we have a small room.

We are using Skyline of Skyline Orchestras (a vendor here). They are $5200. Code Bleu, also a part of Skyline Orchestras gets great reviews here also.

Did the Fox Hollow give you a list of recommended bands? We might be able to give you some feedback if we know which ones are on your list. Plus, if you go with a recommended vendor, you will usually save money, right? Either half price or free for their meals, seem to be the general concensus. (For a 10 piece band, if you have to pay outright for their meals, that could be $1000!) Hope that makes sense. Good luck with your search, I know, it can be nerve wracking!

I am using Rhapsody and I loved them. They showcase all the time so you should be able to go and see them live. They are part of the Skyline Orchestra bands as is 'Code Blue' who is also supposed to be great. (I never heard them cause they were booked 4 our day)
I also think they r the same price.

Re: Can anyone recommend a great and affordable band?
Thank you everyone for the recommendations...I am checking them all out! It's nice to hear Rhapsody had good feedback....fox hollow does recommend certain vendors, but I haven't been able to meet with them again yet. I have had NO FREE WEEKENDS and i feel trapped in DC. Sometimes it really stinks :( I'll make some calls today and get samples of their music.
Thanks again!!! Anyone else who has recommendations/reviews just let me know, any help is always appreciated. Have a great weekend :)

we used Ron Sunshine - they are not your typical wedding band but were perfect for our needs... they have some demo clips on the website.

Try Gig Masters. My friend is paying $2200 for her band. Not sure how many pieces though.
I think they have a website too.
