Can anyone recommend a place..Short Flight and no Hurricanes in October?
I just started looking into it, and it seems that for a 'carribean-like' vacation, people choose Hawaii or the Polynesian, which is quite a plane flight... are there any places that are closer that fit the same bill? Thanks!!!

In in the same boat as you! The travel agents say Aruba and Barbados are safe. Most people are saying the best hotel in Aruba is the Hyatt Regency. I am trying to figure out our deal for our honeymoon as well! Let me know if you find any other options.

i would say aruba. thats what im doing, and i hate to fly its 4 1/2 hours. Barbados is i think 3 1/2 hours.

I was just doing research online and here were some other places listed recommended for October caribbean travel: Aruba Barbados Curaçao Fiji Central and western Mexico
Have you guys heard anything about Curacao? I don't even know where that is... have to look it up...
Thanks for your input... I will look into your suggestions as well... I haven't gone through a travel agent yet... but I'm thinking I should... the most elaborate trip I've ever planned was my plane flight to germany through expedia!

I would say Aruba as well..I did alot of research on this because I am getting married in september which is really active hurricaine wise...we are going to Aruba and I am very excited because I have heard nothing but good about it....
as far as Curacao goes I do not know much but I have heard mixed opinions from people who have been there, also there didnt seem to be too many resorts to choose from there....good luck

Aruba! I went over the summer and we got a direct flight that I believe was just under 4 hours. It's guaranteed sunny weather because it's under the hurrican belt. I loved it there. I would have considered it for my honeymoon if we didn't just go. A lot of girls here seem to go to Aruba for their honeymoon.

FIJI is not anywhere near the caribbean! It will take you half a day or more to get there!

Sorry about the 'fiji', I just cut and pasted it from an article citing good 'caribbean-esque' weather that was not in the path of hurricanes during hurricane season.... :)

Curacao is right near Aruba, they make up the ABC islands with Bonaire. I have also heard mixed things about it..some people have loved it and some people hated it. While I'm sure the Hyatt is nice I don't think it's necessarily the *best* hotel on the island...you should check out everyone's reviews here and on Trip Advisor..there are a lot of really nice places if you decide to go there.

Cabo San Lucas Mexico is a good place as well. It's a desert and they have limited rainfall. They did get hit by hurricane John last year though in September. We went in October and it was nice, hot but, nice.

We are going to Aruba...It's not a real short flight but it's much shorter than Hawaii...and you are out of the Hurricane Belt

We ran into the same problem with our honeymoon. We wanted to go someplace we would never be able to go again, but it was October and it was either their rainy season, or hurricane season.
We ended up doing Cabo San Lucas. It was a 5 hour flight. (I don't know how short of a plane ride you are looking for). We decided just to do that and then we will take a second honeymoon in a few years.

Definitely Aruba - it's out of the hurricane area.
